Thousands of dollars were raised last night in West Nyack to help four local families with kids who have major health issues and steep bills to pay. The county executives and sheriffs from Rockland and Orange Counties, plus other local celebrities, raised funds for the Penguin Plunge in a race at the Autobahn Indoor Raceway at Palisades Center. Pearl River’s Keri Cunningham was there cheering on behalf of her eight year-old daughter, Mae, who suffered a stroke last October while playing soccer…
Mae has another surgery to go through and then could come home from the hospital after that. Last year’s winner of the race, Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus, lost his crown to racing newcomer, Jeff Lewis, the co-host of “The Morning Show” here on WRCR. Jeff got a trophy and a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Representative Mike Lawler. The Penguin Plunge is being held on March 5th in Nyack. The goal of last night’s fundraiser was 12-grand, they ended up making $13,378. For more information visit their website PenguinPlungeNY.com.
