October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and a local lawmaker took the opportunity to present Legal Services of the Hudson Valley $90,000 in State funding from this year’s budget to provide legal services for domestic violence survivors. LSHV is the only provider in the Hudson Valley of free legal services in civil matters for those who can’t afford an attorney. The state funding will allow the group’s Spring Valley office to hire another staff attorney to work on domestic violence cases. Rockland state senator David Carlucci says they’ve seen a disturbing increase in the number of domestic violence cases in Rockland County, hitting nearly 30% of their caseload in 2017…
