The American Automobile Association reports that while prices at the pump have been going down nationally, they are on the rise here in New York. Nationally, according to AAA, the average price of gas fell six cents from last week to $3.61. Across New York State, the average price of gas went up two cents to $3.71, with Rockland averaging $3.79, the highest in the Hudson Valley. AAA offers some gas-saving tips. The group says you should use cruise control to help maintain a constant speed to help save fuel. They also suggest minimizing your use of air conditioning and rolling down the windows instead. That, they say, has less impact on fuel economy than the engine power required to operate the air conditioning compressor.
