The man caught in Nanuet Monday and suspected in the killing of an off-duty NYPD Officer during a botched car purchase set up online was arraigned yesterday in Brooklyn. That’s according to WABC News. 39 year-old Randy Jones faces murder, attempted robbery and criminal possession of a weapon charges. Jones allegedly shot 26 year-old Adeed Fayaz in the head. Fayaz was there on Saturday with his brother-in-law to buy a minivan, arranged through Facebook Marketplace. Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco says if you’re going to make a similar purchase, instead of meeting with strangers at your home or in a sketchy area, there are designated MeetUp parking spots under 24/7 surveillance right in front of his New City office for just that purpose…
The sheriff’s office is located at 55 New Hempstead Road in New City. Jones was nabbed in Nanuet on Monday, hiding out at the Days Inn on Route 59. Jones is due back in court tomorrow.
