Rockland’s Congressman and many in Spring Valley’s Haitian community are slamming the Biden administration’s response to the Mexico border crisis. Thousands of Haitian nationals fleeing political turmoil and natural disasters are being turned away at the Rio Grande. In a statement, Congressman Mondaire Jones said the “unfathomable cruelty that border patrol officers are inflicting on people” at the border “is horrifying and flies in the face of our values as Americans.” The group Rockland County Haiti Relief, meanwhile, continues to try to get goods to Haiti to assist in earthquake relief.
