Communications students at St. Thomas Aquinas College will lead a police-escorted “Happy Fleet” car parade through a portion of Orangetown this weekend. The event will help raise awareness of and funds for the Penguin Plunge organization, which co-founder Barbara Noyes says the money raised will help local kids who have steep medical bills…
Michael Parrott is a STAC senior and helped plan and promote the event as part of his Public Relations studies…
The 2022 plunge, which takes place next March, will benefit Teagan Walsh, who was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma in July 2018 at just two years old, and Jhenaé Fairclough, who was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma just after her first birthday. The “Happy Fleet” is open to anyone who wants to participate. It starts in the St. Thomas Aquinas College parking lot behind the Library at 1pm on Sunday. The fleet and police escort will work its way to Teagan’s house on Gary Lane in Orangeburg. For more information visit https://www.penguinplungeny.com.
