Meetings to Review Stony Point Police Reforms and PIP Construction Project
Update 3/9/9:06am – the PIP meeting has been postponed to a later date, to be determined. The state DOT will be giving a design plan presentation tonight on a Stony Point construction project that’s been in the works for more than two years. Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says the Palisades Parkway overpass on Gate Hill Road exit 15 has been fenced off to pedestrians while it slowly undergoes a facelift…

Later tonight at 7pm there’s a Stony Point public hearing that will review proposed police reforms as part of the Police Reform Act. The final report is to be submitted to Albany by April first. Report: Ramapo to Appeal Judge’s Decision Blocking Housing Project
The Bluefield Extension housing project in Ramapo has been dealt yet another blow. An acting New York State Supreme Court justice has reportedly blocked a Ramapo zoning board decision to allow 15 units of multi-family housing on the single-acre site along Union Road. The Journal News says the town will appeal the decision.
NY Legislature Repeals Governor’s Expanded COVID Powers, Calls for Cuomo to Step Down Grow
The calls for the governor to leave Albany are getting louder. Late Sunday afternoon Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins called on the governor to step down. And late last night Rockland senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick was also calling on the governor to resign. The vote went along party lines, with Republicans concerned the legislation didn’t go far enough. The bill revokes the Governor’s authority to issue new directives but allows those currently on the books to be enforced but with greater legislative oversight. The governor was expected to sign the bill yesterday.
Amidst the chaos, the governor yesterday announced restaurants outside of the city, which have been open at 50 percent capacity, can increase to 75 percent starting March 19th…
New York City restaurants will remain at 35 percent capacity.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we lost one more to COVID, the total is 896. We’ve got 39 hospitalized confirmed with coronavirus, and 1,648 active cases. Our total case count is 39,324, that’s 175 more than Friday.
