The House began debate yesterday on the “For the People Act” which would make changes to campaign finance, voting, and ethics laws. Rockland Congressman Mondaire Jones said the bill would also help those who were incarcerated get their voting rights back, a constitutional right historically denied, he said, by racists…

The new Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine is coming to a handful of state vaccination sites, including Yankee Stadium, the Javits Center and the New York State Fair site in Syracuse. The state expects to get over 160,000 doses of the vaccine this week, to also be distributed to counties, pharmacies, and Federally Qualified Health Centers. Meanwhile, the Emmy Award-winning governor of New York hasn’t held a televised COVID press conference since February 24th.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we lost two more to COVID, the total is 891. We’ve got 34 hospitalized confirmed with coronavirus, and 1,457 active cases. Our total case count is 38,797, that’s 169 more than Tuesday.

Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says the constant brining and salting of the roads is eating away at his budget…
With winds today potentially gusting as high as 60 miles an hour, O&R has put 200 overhead line workers on stand-by to handle any outages. As of this morning there are 252 O&R customers without power in their coverage area, some of them in Pomona and New Hempstead. There were about 700 customers without power overnight.

Yet another woman has come forward with disturbing details of unwanted sexual advances by New York’s governor. The New York Times reported Andrew Cuomo touched and kissed her within moments of meeting her at a wedding in 2019. The allegation follows two former staffers who accused Cuomo of sexual harassment on the job. New York Attorney General Letitia James is moving forward with an independent investigation, the results of which will be disclosed in a public report. Cuomo has denied the accusations.
