Be patient when you call, as lots of people have been asking for help. The medical transportation program can also get you a taxi to your appointment, if you can get one. COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we lost nine more to COVID, the total is 830. We’ve got 85 hospitalized confirmed with coronavirus, and 2,641 active cases. Our total case count is 33,327, that’s 667 more than Monday.

An area police chief has called it quits after more than 30 years in uniform. Spring Valley village police chief Paul Modica retired earlier this month. The department saluted him by driving their cars past him in front of the station with their sirens blaring. In a post on the Spring Valley police department’s Facebook page, chief Modica was praised for his “dedication not only to the members of this department but to the residents of Spring Valley.”

New York’s governor outlined his state budget proposal for the coming year earlier this month. Governor Andrew Cuomo outlined two scenarios, depending on whether Washington kicks in $15 billion in federal funding. That funding would help the state start an aggressive infrastructure program, make green economy investments, enact a rent relief program, and provide millions for homeless housing and assistance. Cuomo said he really wants the legislature to come to an agreement on time…

The governor’s budget proposal would also create a $130 million Pandemic Recovery and Restoration Program for small businesses, restaurants, and arts and entertainment industries that were hurt by COVID.

Rockland prosecutors have blocked a re-sentencing hearing for a convicted killer, who wants to lift her lifetime parole for killing her husband in Monsey almost three decades ago. The Journal News says 50 year-old Michelle Lennon now claims her husband Brooke Lennon abused her, leading to the killing. Rockland’s District Attorney says she murdered him in cold blood to get his insurance money. Lennon served 26 years in prison and was paroled in March.
