An Orange County school superintendent caught up in a pornography scandal has reportedly resigned. News 12 says Tuxedo School Superintendent Tim Bohlke was accused last month of viewing and commenting on a pornographic video while logged into his work Twitter account.
Area Officials Decry Violence in D.C., 75 Rally in Nyack for President’s Removal
U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is calling for the removal of President Donald Trump following the attack on the Capitol on Wednesday. He wants the 25th Amendment to be used by Vice President Mike Pence and at least half the Cabinet to declare Trump unfit for office. Around 75 demonstrators took to Hezekiah Easter Park on Main Street in Nyack yesterday calling for the president to be removed. Locally, the violence in Washington D.C. was condemned by political leaders on all sides of the political aisle. Because of the violence the death toll has reached five this morning. Published reports say U.S. Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who was reportedly struck with a fire extinguisher during the riot, died late last night.
The event prompted several high-profile resignations within the administration, including Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao; special U.S. envoy to Northern Ireland, Mick Mulvaney, the President’s former chief of staff; Education Secretary Betsy DeVos; the Senate Sergeant at Arms; and the U.S. Capitol Chief of Police.
Spring Valley Man Killed in Crash on Route 202
An 88 year-old Spring Valley man was killed in a two-car crash Wednesday night on Route 202. Ramapo Police say they were following a car that was being driven erratically heading from Pomona toward Suffern. That car then crossed the double yellow line and crashed head-on into another car. The unidentified driver was declared dead at the scene, while the driver of the second car, an unidentified 35 year-old man, was taken to Hackensack Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
President of Sloatsburg Ambulance Corps Indicted for Allegedly Stealing Ambulance Corps Funds
The head of the Sloatsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps has been indicted by a Rockland Grand Jury, accused of stealing funds from the ambulance corps. Rockland County D-A Tom Walsh says 53 year-old Matthew Gannon took more than $70,000 from ambulance corps bank accounts to pay for personal expenses, including New York Jets season tickets. The Sloatsburg resident is charged with second degree grand larceny.
