A dangerous intersection in Stony Point could be getting an upgrade. Supervisor Jim Monaghan says the intersection of Washburns Lane and Central Highway, that’s county routes 33 and 100, has been the site of more than 70 accidents in the last decade…
The curbs are also expected to be adjusted to make things safer for pedestrians. After traffic studies are done, Monaghan expects the project could be finished in the spring.

A South Nyack man has been charged with second-degree murder after a fatal shooting in Nyack Sunday night. 35 year-old Gregory Dubuisson of Nyack was found on the sidewalk on Franklin Street just after 7pm Sunday night. Attempts at first aid failed and he was pronounced dead at Nyack Hospital. Orangetown Police say 26-year-old Wendy Jean was arraigned Monday in Nyack village court and sent to the Rockland County Jail. He is due back in court December 3rd. Police did not release a motive for the shooting. Anyone with information should call them at 845-359-3700.

Clarkstown’s supervisor is surprised parts of his town are included in the new COVID yellow zone in Rockland. George Hoehmann says putting the whole New City zip code of 10956 in the yellow zone, rather than following actual cases or micro-clusters, doesn’t seem to make sense…
Hoehmann says the town has reminded area businesses of the governor’s new orders and how they affect them. He says when it comes to Thanksgiving celebrations, he suggests residents be smart and use their judgement.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we’ve lost another to COVID, the death toll now at 693. We’ve got 60 in the hospital and confirmed with coronavirus, and a total of 1,399 active cases. The state says since the crisis began, we’ve had a total of 20,708 reported cases, 357 more than Monday.

A port-a-potty company that wore out its welcome in West Haverstraw has set up in Ramapo. But officials there are looking to see if they can be flushed out of the old firehouse on North Main Street in Hillcrest, where they have reportedly been operating illegally for months. Area residents have complained about the smells ever since the portable toilets from John-To-Go have come to town. Supervisor Michael Specht says the town’s inspectors keep issuing summonses, because the company lacks the proper permits for the property, but there’s been little movement, so they’re all in court…
The company was previously located in West Haverstraw. Neighbors there complained for years, until the company’s lease ran out in early 2020. They did not return an email seeking comment.
