Stony Point Supervisor Looks to Assemble Group to Buy Camp Bullowa from Boy Scouts
Concern over the potential sale of a treasured piece of land in North Rockland has the supervisor scrambling to put together a group that could possibly purchase the property and keep it the way it is. Owned by the local chapter of the Boy Scouts, Camp Bullowa is a 313-acre piece of property in Stony Point on Lake Boyce. The Boy Scouts have put it and two other area properties up for sale to help the national chapter pay its legal bills. Town supervisor Jim Monaghan has fond recollections of the place from when he was a young scout…
Commercial real estate broker Cushman & Wakefield doesn’t have a list price for Camp Bullowa but Monaghan says it’s valued at about 3.3 million dollars. Monaghan says the town can’t get into a bidding war for the property if it comes to that, and any potential eminent domain case would be difficult because the proceeds are intended to be used to settle lawsuits.
