A one year-old Spring Valley boy is dead and his mother faces a felony charge after he was found wedged between a bed and a wall and just his six-year-old sibling watching him. Around 8:40 Saturday night police and fire officials responded to 101 Kennedy Drive after the one-year-old became trapped and was unresponsive. Life-saving measures were performed. He was then taken to Nyack Hospital where he later died. Spring Valley Police say the 36 year-old woman, identified in media reports as Marie Dorleus, was arrested Saturday and charged with Manslaughter. News 12 says her two other children are now in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Tornado Warning Posted, then Retracted, for Southern Rockland
A tornado warning was briefly issued last night in our area. It was canceled by the National Weather Service minutes after it was issued. The warning area included New City, Spring Valley, Suffern, and parts of Bergen County.

Rockland’s Elections Commissioner Appointed as Democratic Co-Executive Director of the State Board of Elections
Rockland’s Elections Commissioner has a new title, Kristen Zebrowski Stavisky has been appointed as the Democratic Co-Executive Director of the State Board of Elections effective July 31st. She was appointed to a four-year term. She’s been with the Rockland County Board of Elections since 2013.
