Police: Nanuet Accident Victim Drove Wrong Way on Route 304 for Miles Before Crash
The man killed in a single car crash early Sunday morning in Nanuet is believed to have driven the wrong way on Route 304 before plunging off an overpass to the street below. Clarkstown Police say the Ford Mustang was found overturned near the median in the eastbound lanes of Route 59. They say the driver, 25 year-old Michael Magee had been traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on Route 304 for more than two miles, jumping a guardrail and down onto Route 59. The Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Team has not definitively determined any contributing factors at this time. Airmont Man Killed in Austin Shooting Over the Weekend
An Airmont man was killed in a shooting over the weekend in Austin, Texas. 25 year-old Douglas John Kantor was reportedly waiting to get into a downtown bar in the early morning hours Saturday when shots were fired and he was struck in the abdomen. He died the next day. According to DailyVoice.com, the family said Kantor had completed his Master’s and was visiting friends in Austin for the weekend. More than a dozen other people were injured in the shooting. Austin police have arrested two suspects in the case. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht said Kantor was about to start a new career and marry his high school sweetheart, and offered condolences to his family. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help with funeral costs.
NYS Crosses 70-Percent Vaccinated Threshold, Some Rockland Zip Codes Continue to Lag Behind
New York has crossed the 70 percent vaccinated milestone, that’s according to the CDC. Governor Andrew Cuomo says it’s time to celebrate…
Part of that celebration is this summer’s state fair in Syracuse, which Cuomo says will now operate at 100 percent capacity. The 18-day event drew 1.8 million visitors in 2019. It was not held last year.

Rockland’s Population Grows Over Last Decade
Rockland County’s population growth between 2010 and 2019 ranked seventh in the state, with an increased population of 18,961 for a total of 324,422. That’s according to data analyst, Stacker. The 6.2 percent population change was ranked 675th in the country.
