A bridge on a frequently-traveled roadway between Clarkstown and Orangetown is being replaced, causing the road to be shut down for the next five months or so. The bridge over the Hackensack River on Western Highway between Pineview and Green Roads in West Nyack is slated to be closed as soon as today. The project is expected to be done by the end of November.
NJ Jackals Take Three of Four from NY Boulders
The New York Boulders lost three out of four games this weekend with the New Jersey Jackals. They split Friday’s doubleheader, the Boulders lost 12-1 in game one but won the night-cap, 8-1. New Jersey would win in ten innings on Saturday, 3-2, and again Sunday, 7-4. The Boulders are off today but they start a three-game series Tuesday against the Sussex County Miners.
Nyack High School Grad and Former Rockland Rowing Association Coach Heading to Japan for Summer Olympics
The former coach of the Rockland Rowing Association is heading to Japan to compete in the Olympics. The RRA says Nyack High School graduate Charlotte Buck earned a spot on the Women’s National Team, which has dominated international rowing for the past fifteen years, taking Olympic gold in 2008, 2012, 2016.
NYS Legislature Passes Bill to Give East Ramapo School District Monitors Expanded Oversight Power
A bill that gives added teeth to the monitors keeping an eye on the East Ramapo School District passed the full legislature yesterday. Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski and state senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick said their legislation lets the monitors override various actions by the Board of Education and gives them better access to district records.
