A Garnerville man died Sunday while swimming in an Orange County Lake. The Times Herald-Record reported 58 year-old Paul Cecere was spotted by boaters who saw him struggling while swimming Sunday afternoon in Greenwood Lake. They attempted to help until the police department’s marine units arrived on-scene and pulled Cecere from the water. They began CPR but he was later pronounced dead at St. Anthony’s Community Hospital in Warwick. The cause of death is under investigation.
Stony Point Looks to Schedule Golf Course Course Sale After the Summer
The future of the sale of Stony Point’s portion of the old Letchworth Village and the town’s golf course may not come to a vote until September at the earliest. Supervisor Jim Monaghan says it shouldn’t happen during the summer while people are likely to be on vacation…
The town board would have to come up with a resolution to set the public vote. Stony Point announced in April they had a contract with a private developer to take over the town golf course and their 26 acres of Letchworth Village.

Spring Valley’s Haitian Community Mourns Death of Social Network Founder
The founder of a Haitian social network group in Spring Valley and a prominent figure in the community, has passed away. Dameus Denis founded HACSO, the Haitian American Culture & Social Organization, after emigrating to Spring Valley in the 1960s. The group helped immigrant Haitians adapt to life in the United States. He had worked at the old Ford plant in Mahwah. Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 on Thursday at New Life Assembly of God in Spring Valley with the funeral taking place service Friday at 10:30. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Township of Washington, New Jersey. He was 96.

The governor called out several areas around the state that are lacking in COVID shots, among them Monsey, Spring Valley and Monroe in Orange County.
Additionally, the governor said yesterday school districts in New York can now lift the requirement that their students must wear masks outdoors. The use of masks in schools is still required indoors. The new rule comes after a weekend of chaos with regard to mask-wearing in schools. On Friday the Cuomo administration indicated the school mask mandate would be lifted indoors and outdoors as of Monday.

Our total case count is 46,905, that’s 23 more than Monday. A total of 219,226 shots have been administered in Rockland.
