The Sussex County Miners won their seventh straight as they beat the New York Boulders, 4-3 yesterday at Skylands Stadium in Augusta, NJ. The Miners swept the three-game series, and brought the Boulders’ own 3-game winning streak to a close on Friday. The Boulders have today off.
Suspended Rockland County Corrections Officer Facing New Charges
A suspended Rockland County corrections officer already facing scores of charges now faces additional accusations. Rockland’s D-A says 35 year-old John Kezek of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Florida in Orange County, was indicted yesterday on first- and third-degree criminal sexual acts, both felonies, and official misconduct. The charges stem from a continuing investigation. He was being held at the Rockland County jail on $100,000 bail. He’s due back in court June 17th. Kezek had already been charged with 78 counts of mistreating inmates and falsifying jail records. Rockland D-A Tom Walsh encourages anyone who might have been a victim, or witness, to contact the D-A’s office.

NY COVID Positivity Rate in Continues to Drop
The statewide COVID-19 positivity rate continues to drop as more people get vaccinated. Wednesday’s percentage plummeted to 0.44, and the seven-day average dropped to 0.6, both record lows.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, no new deaths since the weekend, we’re still at 958. We’ve got eight hospitalized confirmed with coronavirus, and 133 active cases. Our total case count is 46,868, that’s four more than Thursday. A total of 217,565 shots have been administered in Rockland.
