The Stony Point Action Committee for the Environment had scheduled a candidates’ debate for next week, but has canceled due to lack of participation by major party candidates. Instead, the candidates for town board and the legislature will be taking part in the North Rockland High School Debate Team’s candidates’ forum. Greg Julian of the Stony Point Democratic Party says the forum gives candidates the chance to present their views in a non-confrontational atmosphere and gets kids and the community more involved in the process. It’s being held Wednesday night at 7 at Fieldstone Middle School in Thiells. SPACE will still hold its meeting tonight at 7 at the historic Pyngyp Schoolhouse on Route 210 & Cedar Flats Road to discuss various town issues.
