Funeral services for 17 year-old Altin Nezaj were held yesterday in Yonkers. 15 year-old Saniha Cekic of Brooklyn, a cousin of the car’s driver, was buried Tuesday. 17 year-old Aisha Radoncic of Orangeburg was reportedly in good condition at Westchester Medical Center. Orangeburg Police say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Nezaj was a member of the Pearl River High School football team, and Saturday’s “Little Brown Jug” game against Nanuet will be played in his honor. The Can-Am league, the independent baseball league the Boulders play in, is merging with the Frontier League, forming what officials are calling a “Super League.” 14 teams will make up what is now the largest league in all of Independent Professional Baseball. Frontier League Commissioner, Bill Lee, says the move has been on the drawing board for about two years…

Boulders’ V-P of Business Development Seth Cantor says several rules that differed between the two leagues will still need to be worked out, including the age of the players, and the format for the playoffs…

Two-thirds of New Yorkers say don’t divide the state into two. That’s according to a poll released earlier this week by Siena College. Western Ramapo and Orange County Assemblyman Karl Brabenec says it’s a topic few in Albany want to even talk about…

The Siena poll says 25 percent support the idea of combining New York City with the downstate suburbs as one state, and the other 51 counties as another state, though it is unclear what defines “downstate suburbs” but it likely means Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Westchester and Long Island are lumped in with the city. Assemblyman David DiPietro, whose district covers parts of Erie and Wyoming counties in western New York, has a petition looking to split the state into three.

The Association for the Visually Impaired held their annual White Cane Awareness Day event yesterday at Dominican College in Blauvelt. Executive Director Beth DuBoff says the event has celebrated the achievements of those who are blind or visually impaired since 1964…

Yesterday’s event featured demos of assistive technology, a community resource fair, and the keynote speaker was abstract expressionist painter Busser Howell, who lost 98 percent of his vision at 15 and went totally blind by age 40. His work can be seen at the Rockland Center for the Arts’ “Visions of Awareness” exhibit through November 24th. The center is located at 27 South Greenbush Road in West Nyack. Services were also held yesterday for the 15 year-old Brooklyn girl killed in the crash that sent the driver, a 17 year-old from Orangeburg, to the hospital. Saniha Cekic was buried in Millstone, New Jersey, yesterday following services in Astoria, Queens. The driver of the car, 17 year-old Aisha Radoncic, was reportedly in good condition at Westchester Medical Center yesterday, according to published reports. Orangeburg Police say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Nezaj was on the Pearl River High School football team, and Saturday’s “Little Brown Jug” game against Nanuet will be played in his honor.
