One car, two accidents in two towns. News 12 reports police in Clarkstown and Ramapo are looking at the same driver for two different DWI accidents over the weekend. Police in Ramapo reportedly responded to Rockland Lane in Hillcrest for a crash where a pickup truck struck a tree. The driver left the scene on foot but was found nearby with minor injuries. Clarkstown police identified the truck and the driver as being involved in an earlier crash. The unidentified driver reportedly faces DWI charges in both towns.

New York State’s public health laboratory is testing vape products containing both cannabis and nicotine that have been used by people who have experienced serious lung-related illnesses. The governor says testing continues on all vape products authorized in the state’s Medical Marijuana Program. There have been no adverse events related to vaping among certified patients in this program since this investigation began. Patients in that program can call 844-863-9312 if they have any questions or concerns.

Schools are Open: Security, Safety and Health Top List of Admins’ Concerns
Safety in school is a big concern, and the South Orangetown School district is starting the year with School Resource Officers in both of the town’s high schools and shared among the district’s other schools. Day says vaping is affecting students even in the middle schools, and it’s sometimes hard to detect whether they are doing harmful drugs with them. Day says education about the dangers of drugs is being taught in the older elementary schools in the town’s school districts.
