A new drug recovery center has opened on Smith Street in Nanuet thanks to some grant money from the state and federal governments. The Foundations Recovery Center is run by the Rockland Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependence. Support and services are available for free for people recovering from substance use disorders and their families. The center is getting around $87,000 in startup funding and $350,000 in annual operational funding through the federal State Opioid Response Grant. Weather Pushes Haverstraw Road Resurfacing Program Back 50 Days
The weather continues to wreak havoc with area road resurfacing. In Haverstraw, supervisor Howard Phillips says because of all the rain, there’s still about 35 roads to do in his town this season, and the contractor is about 50 days behind schedule…
Phillips expects the road re-paving program to begin again in early September.
Rockland Country Day School to Close by Month’s End
Despite selling its campus to the town of Clarkstown, the Rockland Country Day School has been unable to increase enrollment or make enough from donations, and this week started telling parents the school would close at the end of the month. After 60 years, the private pre-K to 12th grade school has left families trying to figure out where to send their kids instead. The campus on Kings Highway in Congers was sold to the town last year and they leased it back, but still weren’t able to make ends meet. The Journal News said it was not clear what would happen to tuitions that have already been paid.

The concert is being held at Germonds Park at 7:30 tonight. In case of rain, the concert will be held at Felix Festa Middle School on Parrott Road.
Boulders Split Doubleheader with NJ Jackals
The Rockland Boulders started a four-game series against the New Jersey Jackals at Yogi Berra Stadium yesterday with a double-header. In game one the Boulders were shut out 5-0.
