The owner and executive director of a New City consumer products testing company has been charged with wire fraud and other charges in connection a scheme to defraud his customers by reporting false laboratory test results. In a statement, the Justice Department says 69 year-old Gabriel Letizia of AMA Laboratories was arrested and arraigned Friday afternoon in White Plains federal court. They accuse him of faking test results over a 30-year period since 1987. He pleaded not guilty. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency also warned internet users to avoid the bad guys looking to capitalize on these tragic events. The fraud could arrive in many formats, including by email, social media, phone calls, texts, websites and even old-fashioned door-to-door solicitations.
Fatal Accident Victim in New Hempstead ID’d
The New Hempstead woman who was struck by a bus and killed Wednesday afternoon was volunteering with Meals on Wheels when the incident occurred. The Journal News said Ramapo police identified 73 year-old Teresa Estrada-Geranis as the victim. She had been helping out at the Ramapo Senior Activity Center’s Meals on Wheels at the New Hempstead Presbyterian Church. The driver reportedly stayed on-scene, and the police investigation continues.
Rockland Solid Waste Agency Begins Search for New Executive Director
The search is on for a new executive director of the Rockland Solid Waste Management Authority. Anna Roppolo is on a one-year administrative leave of absence from her $182,000-a-year job for personal and family reasons. Authority chairman Howard Phillips says she’s still available as a consultant…
Phillips says state law prohibits him from elaborating further on Roppolo’s leave, which was effective July 8th. She’s been there since 2005. Director of operations, Gerard Damiani, is handling the day-to-day running of the agency.
