Rockland State Lawmaker says Equifax Settlement Doesn’t Go Far Enough
A Rockland state lawmaker says the Equifax settlement announced Monday is not enough of a punishment. The fund will compensate consumers who bought credit or identity monitoring services from Equifax and paid other out-of-pocket expenses due to the data breach. Equifax will also give all U.S. consumers six free credit reports each year for seven years—in addition to the one free annual credit report that Equifax and the two other national credit reporting agencies currently provide.
