An 18-year-old woman is expected to make a full recovery after falling about 35 feet in an unauthorized swimming hole off Route 17 in Tuxedo Saturday. The Times Herald-Record reports the incident took place at what’s known as “The Bubbles” on the Ramapo River. Tuxedo Police said the unidentified woman was in a group of nine teens, and fell and hit some rocks. She was airlifted to Hackensack University Medical Center with a cut above her eye, injuries to her jaw and teeth, and her left collarbone. It took first reponders about 20 minutes to get to her because it was so remote.
MTA, Thruway, Smacked by Local Officials for Ignoring Rockland
An area assemblyman is demanding funding equity for Hudson Valley commuters. Stony Point assemblyman Colin Schmitt of the 99th District says the 2020-2024 MTA Capital Plan is set to be introduced this fall, and too frequently, the needs of west-of-Hudson commuters who use Metro-North get ignored…
Schmitt wants to be sure the legislature has enough time to hold hearings and make adjustments in the budget, if necessary. Meanwhile, a meeting by the new Thruway Toll Advisory Panel will be held this week in Rockland to hear from commuters who have concerns about plans for future tolls on the new Tappan Zee Bridge. Al Samuels is the head of the Rockland Business Association, and says he’s concerned Rockland’s issues could get overlooked…

2016 Ramapo Audits Completed
The 2016 Ramapo audits have been completed, leaving only the 2017 and 2018 left to do. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht told “The Morning Show” Friday the deficit in the town’s general fund increased to about 11 million dollars. Specht says the town overall, is in the black…

Suffern Central Board of Ed. Files Additional Charges Against Suspended Superintendent
15 more disciplinary charges have been filed by the Suffern Board of Education against its suspended Superintendent. The Journal News reported the board split on some of the charges from the June 12th executive session meeting. A hearing date on the now-20 but still publicly-unknown charges has not yet been set for Douglas Adams, who was suspended in March. The board also appointed Lisa Weber as acting superintendent.
Stretch of Route 202 in Haverstraw Gets Patched; Supervisor Wants State to do the Rest
Ramapo Road in Haverstraw, also known as Route 202, is in pretty bad condition from Shop Rite heading east. Crews were out last week, but they only smoothed a small rectangle on the eastbound side near the intersection at South Central Highway. Haverstraw supervisor Howard Phillips says they were supposed to go from Sherman Road about a mile east to around Bridge Street…
Phillips says he’s reaching out to the State DOT and local representatives to get the rest of the roadway done.
