Two members of the Suffern school board’s minority that opposed the majority’s suspension of the district’s superintendent have been elected as president and vice-president of the board. LoHud.com says Matthew Kern was elected president last night and Paul Shapiro was elected vice president. Superintendent Douglas Adams was accused of hiding information from the board in a case involving a staff member and a student.

Part of the plan that local officials have come up with is to have the Clarkstown Police post and enforce parking restrictions on local roads in the neighborhoods by Rockland Lake entrances, and they’ll help park staff direct traffic as needed.
Camp Association Sues Rockland in Federal Court Over Measles Policy
A judge on Tuesday said the Rockland County Department of Health can proceed with its order requiring camps to provide weekly lists of proof of vaccinations for all campers and staff. The Journal News reports the American Camp Association of New York and New Jersey challenged the policy in federal court. The association claimed its members were being held hostage by the mandate. There have been 276 confirmed cases of measles in Rockland County since the outbreak began in October.
Fire Officials: Leave the Fireworks to the Pros
The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York is urging listeners to let trained professionals handle the fireworks during this long Independence Day weekend.
