The New Jersey Botanical Garden Summer Concert series kicks off tonight in
Ringwood. Maja Britton is a volunteer with the garden and says tonight’s
show features a band called “No Fuss and Feathers”...

The concert starts at 6:30 and a $5 donation is requested. On Sunday
there’s a Father's Day Family Woodland Hike at 1pm, where you'll learn
about the area’s plants and animals. It is free, but it’ll be cancelled in

You know how you go into some of Rockland’s downtown areas and see some
empty storefronts. They’re not very attractive. Rand Commercial of New
City worked recently with Nyack and RCC to create decorative window papers
that promote the village in creative ways. Paul Adler of Rand Commercial
says instead of plain brown paper, for example, the decorations might
feature the “Visit Nyack” logo…

A Pearl River veteran yesterday became the first to be honored with the Rockland County Veteran Pride Award, which recognizes distinguished LGBTQ veterans. Damaris Trinidad joined the Navy in 1986. She was Company Commander of her boot camp, attended A-School in Pensacola to become a Cryptologic Technician, and served at Guantanamo Bay. At the award presentation ceremony yesterday, Trinidad said being forced to keep who she was a secret made a hard job even tougher…

The fund supplies first responders with healthcare, but it’s running out of money and payouts have been slashed, leaving many with large health care bills. Congress got an earful Tuesday from former “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart. The House Judiciary Committee unanimously passed a bill that would permanently reauthorize the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund yesterday, the day after Stewart testified. The bill now goes to the House for a full vote. It’s not clear yet whether the Senate will get the chance to vote on the bill.
