Two unidentified law enforcement officers were shot last night at an Ardsley motel during a federal drug bust. News 12 says the 43-year-old suspect, who was also not identified, was killed in the shootout. The two officers who were shot suffered injuries that are not life-threatening, but it's not known whether they were local police or federal agents.

Rosman Road near Town Hall and the Shop Rite shopping plaza is in the process of being re-surfaced. Additionally, the Rockland County Highway Department is starting a road resurfacing project along South Highland Avenue from Washington Avenue to Pascack Road in Pearl River. Drivers are advised to take alternate routes and follow detour signs.
NYS Senate Committee Holds Hearings on Suicide
The New York State Senate is holding a public hearing in Albany today to learn how to strengthen suicide prevention measures. Rockland state senator David Carlucci chairs the committee on mental health and disabilities, and says suicide and attempted suicide statistics among adolescents are growing at an alarming rate...
From the hearing, Carlucci hopes to learn what legislation could be helpful going forward. The New York State Office of Mental Health is holding its 4th Annual Suicide Prevention Conference in September. It's a two-day conference featuring presentations on suicide prevention in diverse populations, community coalitions, schools and college campuses, and more. History of South Mountain Road on Display in Historical Society of Rockland County Exhibit

Clarkstown you'll want to visit the Historical Society of Rockland County
in New City this summer. Susan Deeks is the executive director of the
Society and says South Mountain Road has managed to retain much of the
rural character that attracted artists to it more than a century ago...

Rockland Codes Initiative Gets Support from NYS Senator Investigating Code Enforcement
Rockland’s County Executive marked the fourth anniversary of the Rockland
Codes Initiative with a press conference at an apartment complex in South
Nyack Friday. The complex had challenged the county in court over sewage
leaks, non-functioning ovens, and other violations, lost, and has since
paid its fines and brought its apartments up to code. County Executive Ed
Day said the RCI has been successfully targeting slumlords in the county…
North Rockland state senator James Skoufis, who is spearheading a state investigation looking into code enforcement in four areas of the state, including Ramapo, said other municipalities could learn from Rockland’s approach…
Skoufis said he is nearing the end of his investigation and putting
together a report soon. He’s been looking at Newburgh, Mount Vernon and
Albany, in addition to Ramapo.
