Among the improvements Clarkstown officials would like to see: more
turning lanes and traffic signals, improved lighting, and better
sidewalks.

The New York State Senate passed legislation yesterday requiring adults to
wear seat belts in the back seats of cars, including Uber and Lyft. State
Senator David Carlucci adults not wearing their seat belt in the back seat
would face a $50 fine. The Assembly still needs to pass it and then it’s
off to the governor’s desk.

Haverstraw police are warning residents in the Garnerville area to keep a
close eye on their children and small pets. There have been a number of
coyote sightings in the area of Kinsman Lane. The folks at
CoyoteSmarts.org say coyotes are naturally timid animals and will usually
flee when they see people. They say not to turn your back and run away,
but make noise by banging pots and pans or use an air horn to scare them.

Rockland’s current sheriff has fond memories of the former sheriff who
passed away Sunday. Sheriff Lou Falco says Thomas Goldrick spent over 55
years in law enforcement…

Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Joseph Sorce Funeral
Home in West Nyack. The funeral is Friday morning at 10 at St.
Catherine’s Church in Blauvelt. Burial will follow at the Rockland
Cemetery in Sparkill. Sheriff Goldrick was 93 years old.
