There are now 206 confirmed cases of the measles in Rockland. 82 percent of those affected are 18 years of age or younger. Moviegoers in California have been warned they may have been exposed to the measles at a midnight showing of Avengers Endgame last week, and hundreds of passengers on a cruise ship docked at the Caribbean island of St. Lucia were quarantined after a crew member was confirmed with the disease.
Effort to Legalize Pot in NY Could be Losing Steam
Though the governor wants it done, New York State may not get a marijuana bill done before the legislative session ends next month. Governor Andrew Cuomo originally wanted it in this year’s budget, but when concerns over its implementation came up, it was put off and the deadline shifted to mid-June. United Way of Rockland and Palisades Center Host “Spring Day of Caring” Friday
The longest-running, largest, single-day volunteer community service event in Rockland kicks off tomorrow at Palisades Center. Development Coordinator for United Way of Rockland, Dorothy Atzl, says volunteers in the “Spring Day of Caring” will help complete essential projects for Rockland County’s many health and human services providers…
The projects range from painting and power washing to carpentry repairs, things the organizations couldn’t otherwise afford to do on their own. The event begins with a “Kick-off Luncheon & Rally” at Palisades Center that celebrates hundreds of area volunteers. Teams of volunteers then head off to do their projects.
