The County is holding a free Narcan training session tomorrow morning in New City. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says being trained to help prevent a drug overdose is similar to being prepared in case of any other medical emergency, and it can happen to anyone…

While Rockland County has one of the lowest rates of opioid deaths in the state, 38 lives were lost in 2018 due to overdoses. The one-hour session starts at 9:30 tomorrow morning for anyone over 18 years of age. You’ll get a NARCAN rescue kit for participating. It takes place at the County Legislative Chambers. You need to pre-register – you can do that here.

Tomorrow is also the National Drug Take Back Day 10 am to noon. You can bring unwanted medications for safe disposal at CVS locations in New City, Bardonia, Garnerville and Stony Point, and Walgreens in Spring Valley and Nyack. Local police departments will take back drugs any day of the year, as well.

The county is giving out free rabies shots for your pets on Sunday. They’re available from 10 AM until 1 PM at the Fire Training Center in Pomona next to the Boulders’ ballpark. No appointment is necessary. The shots are free, but they ask for a $5 donation per animal to help defray the county’s costs. The shots are for dogs, cats or ferrets – they must be healthy, and at least three months old. Pet owners can be fined up to $250 if they fail to get their pets vaccinated and keep them up to date. The Keep Rockland Beautiful clean-up comes to Stony Point this weekend. It starts at 9AM at the Farley Elementary school, and Town supervisor Jim Monaghan says there are some areas that really need some attention…

The blood drive is being held at the fire sub-station on Route 210 and Central Highway.
