The New York State Board for Historic Preservation has recommended adding 17 places in the state to the State and National Registers of Historic Places, including two in Pomona. Marianne Leese is the senior historian for the Historical Society of Rockland County, and says the village of Pomona should be congratulated for preserving both the Camp Hill School, which now serves as village hall, and the Pig Knoll School, now the Pomona Cultural Center…
Once the recommendations are approved the properties are listed on the registers. Meanwhile, the Historical Society is holding its annual dinner Sunday, where the late former County Executive John Grant and his family are among the honorees; they are getting the Lifetime Service Award. About a dozen protesters came out to Palisades Center mall yesterday and lashed out at the county for declaring a state of emergency over the measles outbreak.
