Road work is underway on some much-needed projects in Ramapo and Haverstraw. Route 45 from Exit 12 off the Palisades Parkway down to Route 202 is being resurfaced, along with Route 202 from Haverstraw Town Hall into Garnerville. Haverstraw supervisor Howard Phillips says these improvements have been a long time in coming …

Phillips says the construction will be performed during the overnight hours from 9pm through about 6am. The railroad crossing at New Main Street between Hudson Avenue and Route 9W in Haverstraw is also being repaired. It’s not known how long the projects will take.

No one was reported hurt after a car drove into a Garnerville laundromat yesterday afternoon, and it happened to be the same building in which this radio station is located. WRCR’s engineer Kevin Thomas was doing “The Pete CLEMental” show yesterday afternoon when the incident occurred…

No entrapment was reported, but the Building Inspector was called to the scene. Though the front of the building is boarded up, a sign posted there says the laundromat is open, but you have to enter through the back.

One was injured after an accident between a car and a dump truck in Clarkstown yesterday afternoon. Police say the incident occurred around 2:45 near Old Mill Road and Snake Hill Road in West Nyack. The area was shut down for about four hours. The car’s driver sustained serious injuries, the truck’s driver was uninjured.

The hamlet of Sparkill in Orangetown could be getting a new housing and retail project for its Main Street, but it’s still just in the early design stages. Town supervisor Teresa Kenny says the Sparkill Mews concept as currently envisioned would bring in a mix of apartments and retail to a section where a narrow private road and empty building currently stand…

The tri-state area’s governors say we’re back open for business. Citing the progress in vaccinations and reduction in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says, along with New Jersey’s and Connecticut’s governors, that starting tomorrow, together they will be easing various COVID restrictions on business, venues and gatherings…

Some activities will still be limited, including indoor catered events, home gatherings and large, outdoor arenas, and the six-foot social distancing rule will still apply.

COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, for the first time in more than a week, we had new fatalities, three more for a total of 952. We’ve got 16 hospitalized confirmed with coronavirus, and 468 active cases. Our total case count is 46,362, that’s 96 more than Monday.
