A fundraiser for a Suffern D.A.R.E. hockey player diagnosed with cancer has been moved from today until tomorrow due to the weather. The Suffern Police Department is selling t-shirts in support of 16 year-old Josh Steinhardt, who is also a volunteer firefighter. All proceeds will be going directly to the Steinhardt family to help with medical costs. The shirts will be sold on Wednesday night from 5 to 8pm at the Leo Lydon building next to the DARE hockey rink on Yorkshire Drive in Suffern. Helen Hayes’ “Pretty Penny” in Nyack Heads to Auction
Now you can own “Pretty Penny,” the Nyack home of the late Helen Hayes and comedian Rosie O’Donnell. More Rockland Tourism = Lower Taxes on Rocklanders

Day said the most recent New York State Tourism Economic Study showed tourism accounted for over 7 percent of all employment in Rockland and generated $31.5 million in local taxes, an increase of 4 percent from the previous year.
Rockland’s Director of Fire and Emergency Services Settling into New Role
Now that Hillcrest’s former Fire Chief has taken over as the head of Rockland’s fire and emergency services it’s only fitting that he took over as the host of WRCR’s “Who Wants to be a Volunteer” program, heard here on Fridays at nine following the news. Chris Kear made his debut on Friday’s edition of the show, and said he’s been settling in to his new role, and he has lots to learn…
Kear served as Chief of Hillcrest Fire Company #1 from April 2007 thru April 2009. He was the Director of the Rockland County Fire Chiefs Association from March 2011 thru March 2015 and he has served as a Deputy Fire Coordinator for Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services since September 2013. Former Director Gordon Wren retired last year.
