The Stony Point Seals annual fundraiser for families with steep medical expenses, the 20th annual Pole R Plunge, is being held Sunday in the Hudson River off Grassy Point Road. That’s when dozens of crazy people brave the frigid waters of the river to help two area 9 year-olds who have lots of medical bills. Keira Cunningham was the victim of a sudden brain hemorrhage, and Kyle Payen, suffers from Sickle Cell disease and recently underwent a bone marrow transfer. Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says plenty of emergency personnel will be on hand in case they are needed…

Monaghan had challenged Haverstraw supervisor Howard Phillips to take the plunge, who said he’ll do it! Well, sort of…

Stony Pointer, Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco, and his deputies, will be on hand to keep things orderly…

A fundraiser is being held tomorrow night to help support RCC programs for student veterans. In June, RCC is holding its “Run the Rock” obstacle course/fun run. Jonathan Barnwell is RCC’s Coordinator of Veterans Affairs and says tomorrow’s fundraiser will help fund the “Run the Rock” event and support other veterans programs…

The first “Run the Rock” fundraiser event is being held tomorrow night at Foggy Bottom Tavern in New City from 6 to 9. The $45 admission includes unlimited beer, wine, soda, appetizers and pizza. The third annual “Run the Rock” is set for Saturday, June 8th, at RCC’s main campus in Suffern. For more information click here.

The old Clarkstown police station, an abandoned building at the corner of Route 304 and West Nyack Road in West Nyack, could become a Starbucks in the near future. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says the property’s owners have a contract agreement with the Seattle-based coffee giant…

There’s no timetable yet on when the coffee shop could be built, but Hoehmann expects the owners to come before the Zoning Board of Appeals for a variance in the next two or three months.
