Earlier this week, Governor Andrew Cuomo told a group of gun safety advocates that the debate needs to be de-politicized and the new laws are common sense… 

The new laws would ban bump stocks, prohibit teachers from carrying guns in schools and extend the waiting period for gun buyers who do not pass an instant background check.

And on Monday, both houses of the state legislature overwhelmingly approved the Child Victims Act, a law that’s been kept from a vote for the last 13 years. Rockland Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski says the bill extends the statutes of limitations for childhood sex abuse victims, which currently require criminal or civil charges be brought before a survivor turns 23…

Governor Cuomo has indicated he would sign both packages of bills.

Rumors have been swirling around the county about whether Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski is planning to run for District Attorney now that Tom Zugibe has been elected as a judge and the acting D-A has said he’s not interested in the job. Zebrowski told “The Morning Show” yesterday he’s considering his options…

Zebrowski said he expects to decide whether to run by February tenth. Retired judge Victor Alfieri, a former assistant district attorney and assistant public defender, recently announced his plan to run for D-A. Former prosecutor Patricia Gunning of Grandview-on-Hudson announced last fall she’s running as well. 

Well, we didn’t get the 2-4 inches of snow that some had predicted but some roads are on the slippery side. Route 202 was temporarily blocked this morning in Haverstraw between South Central Highway and Main Street after a multi-car incident there. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says if you must go somewhere, take your time and be safe…
