A local organization is doing its annual count of the homeless in Rockland County this week, and they need volunteers to help out. Kathleen Lathrop of “Helping Hands of Rockland County” says the group does the “Point-in-time” count in a single, 24-hour period. That way, Lathrop says, the county can qualify for federal grant money from the Housing and Urban Development agency…
The count is being coordinated at four locations where volunteers will be needed: the United Church of Spring Valley, the Haverstraw Community Center, the All Souls Church in Suffern and the Veterans Service Center in New City. Volunteers will be needed for a 24-hour period from 7am on Thursday to 7am Friday.
