Despite calls for him to resign, New York’s governor says he’s not going anywhere. The Attorney General is investigating claims made against Andrew Cuomo, who said in his COVID press briefing yesterday, he’s trying to be respectful of the process…

Cuomo said he has not spoken to AG Letitia James or her investigators. No word on when her report will be released.

The governor’s decision-making process when it comes to re-opening the state has come under fire from elected officials in both parties as he continues to battle several investigations. Rockland Assemblyman Mike Lawler, a Republican, says the restrictions need to be lifted, and those who have been vaccinated should be able to go out and live their lives freely…

Rockland Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski, a Democrat, says some of the decisions being made when it comes to capacity limits for indoor and outdoor events just don’t add up…

Speaking of decisions, the governor announced yesterday he’s decided the new midnight food and beverage service curfew will be lifted for outdoor dining areas on May 17th and for indoor dining areas on May 31st. And starting today, New Yorkers 16 and older can get a vaccination without an appointment at all state-run vaccination sites.

They tried, but an attempt by the Novartis property’s owners to reduce their tax assessment from $41 million to $6 million has come to an end. In a joint statement, Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht and Suffern Mayor Ed Markunas said had the company won their legal battle, taxpayers would have been on the hook for $1.36 million and a property tax increase. The company wanted to lower their assessment on the 167-acre facility on Old Mill Road in Suffern, but at the same time was trying to sell it well above market value. Specht called it a huge victory for the average Ramapo and Suffern taxpayer. Markunas said he was grateful that the “frivolous” legal action by “a greedy company” has come to an end.

A former Spring Valley trustee’s felony convictions have been upheld. The Journal News says Vilair Fonvil’s convictions for stealing over $11,000 from a village-funded summer camp program for kids will stand and he now faces his one-year jail sentence. He was convicted in 2018 in the non-jury trial of third-degree corrupting the government, grand larceny, money laundering, and official misconduct.
