The 24th County Executive’s Outstanding Environmental Volunteer Award, and a tree planted in New City in her honor, went to a Nanuet resident yesterday who got creative by holding ‘virtual hikes’ and ‘virtual campfires’ with ‘virtual smores’ during the pandemic. At a ceremony at Kennedy Dells County Park in New City yesterday, Rockland County Executive Ed Day praised Gale Pisha for working tirelessly at all levels for the environment here in the county, and said she’s literally willing to get her hands dirty…
And that was Rockland County Legislator Harriet Cornell, who also presented Pisha with a Distinguished Service Award. Pisha wants us to remember, the environment is at the center of everything we do, from our health to our economy…
Besides the work she does here in Rockland, which includes the defeat of the proposed desalinization plant in Haverstraw, she also co-chairs the Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter’s Legislative Committee.
