The Nyack school district has a new superintendent for the upcoming school year. The Journal News says Eudes Budhai currently heads up the Westbury school district in Nassau County. He and his four-year contract were approved by the Board of Education yesterday, at a base salary of $265,000.
Clarkstown Cancels Rockland Country Day School Public Hearing, to be Rescheduled
A public hearing scheduled for last night on the future of the Rockland Country Day School property was cancelled and will re-scheduled. The town is also considering not-for-profit use of the facilities there though nothing has been decided. The new public hearing date has not yet been announced.
Palisades Center to Expand Hours, Hosting Job Fair
Increased foot traffic, more vaccinations, re-opened movie theatres, and higher customer demand have convinced Palisades Center to expand its operating hours. Starting Friday, the mall’s operating hours will be 10AM to 7PM Monday through Wednesday, 10AM to 9PM Thursday – Saturday, and 11AM to 7PM on Sundays. Those hours are expected to expand again at the end of June. The mall also began a job fair yesterday, with 30 businesses looking to fill 50 or so jobs right now. Report: Rockland Real Estate Developer Sued for Millions
Three Israelis are suing a Rockland County real estate developer they claim owes them millions of dollars in investments, including a $4 million verdict issued by a rabbinical court. That’s according to the Westchester Business Journal, which says Monsey’s Levi Kelman faces charges in New Jersey and New York with the plaintiffs claiming they are owed a total of about 10 million dollars. Kelman could not be reached for comment.
Nyack Village Board Designates John Green House on Main Street an Historic Landmark
The Nyack Village Board has designated the John Green House on lower Main Street a Village Historic Landmark. It is the last of the Dutch Colonial style sandstone houses in Nyack and once belonged to John Green, a sloop captain and businessman who helped develop the village in its early days. Win Perry is president of the John Green Preservation Coalition, and says the designation can prevent it from being demolished and help the group get grants so they can restore it…
