Born a slave in 1822, Tubman rescued scores of slaves after she escaped, using a network known as the Underground Railroad. She served as a Union scout and spy during the Civil War and was active in securing the right to vote for women. The 9-foot, 24-hundred pound bronze sculpture is a traveling exhibit that will be on display at the Haverstraw African American Memorial Park located at 41 Clinton Street through June 7th.

The state of New York, Holtec International, Entergy, the Public Utility Law Project, Riverkeeper and others have agreed to a plan to safely close the Indian Point nuclear power facility. The state has dropped its challenge to the sale of the power plant, as the new owner, Holtec, has promised to keep $400 million in a decommissioning trust fund for the next decade. The plan needs to be reviewed by the PSC.
