Rockland BOCES is back to work as of yesterday with full in-school instruction taking place five days a week for the first time since the pandemic began. That’s thanks they say to the warmer weather and a fully-vaccinated faculty and staff. In other COVID news, New Yorkers 16 and older are now eligible as of yesterday to get vaccinated, but they and 17 year-olds are only permitted to get the Pfizer vaccine. Moderna and Johnson & Johnson had limited their trials to those 18 and older. Pfizer had tested theirs on children as young as 12, but not enough of them to get emergency use authorization.

COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we lost three more to COVID, the total is 930. We’ve got 44 hospitalized confirmed with coronavirus, and 1,743 active cases. Our total case count is 44,384, that’s 234 more than Tuesday.

An area lawmaker has thrown his hat into the ring for 2022. North Rockland and Orange County Assemblyman, Republican Colin Schmitt, announced yesterday he is running for Congress in the 18th District…

Since 2013, Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney has represented the district, which includes all of Orange and Putnam counties, and parts of Dutchess and Westchester.

Ramapo High School is hosting a memorial service for their former football and track coach Dan Zotter, who died last month at the age of 46. The service is open to the public and it’s being held tonight from 5-7 p.m. on the high school football field.

The town of Stony Point, working with the town’s Police Athletic League, is starting up its free Drive-in movie series again. Supervisor Jim Monaghan says there’s lots of fun to be had through the spring…

It’s at the Roh building on Club House Lane in Stony Point and it is free, but you have to pre-register. To do that go to StonyPointPAL.org. Friday’s movie is “Sonic the Hedgehog.” Parking opens up at 6pm, Bingo starts at 6:30 and the movie starts at 7:30.

A 9-year-old Rockland boy earned his donuts — by camping out at the new Paramus Krispy Kreme store before it opened. DailyVoice.com says Orangeburg’s Shae Fishman won a dozen free doughnuts a month for a year for being the store’s first customer. He and his dad camped out Sunday night and Monday night and by opening day Tuesday morning at 6am he was securing himself the frosted treats. The new Krispy Kreme is Bergen County’s second location. The other is in East Rutherford.
