$8 million in federal funding is going towards pedestrian safety improvements and to support infrastructure projects in the Town of Ramapo. Rockland Congressman Mike Lawler of the 17th District says pedestrians in parts of Ramapo have been at greater risk of injury, and the funds will assist more than a half-dozen projects in various parts of town. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht says that’s in addition to a new state program designed to rehab a portion of Route 45 in the village of Spring Valley…

In a statement, Wesley Hills Mayor Marshall Katz said the federal money will speed up several sidewalk projects, a major help for a pedestrian population, particularly on the weekends and on holidays.

It’s that time of year again. The mosquitos are feeling frisky and multiplying like crazy, but you can help stop their population growth. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says the Rockland County Department of Health has started treating catch basins and storm drains to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in standing water. Day says that process should be complete early next month.

Day says free Mosquito Dunks are also available at the Yeager Health Complex in Pomona. Mosquito Dunks are small, donut-shaped objects that float on standing water and release bacteria that kill mosquitoes before they can become flying, biting adults, designed for private swimming pools and spas. Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco has been critical of the state’s marijuana plans, and prior to the governor’s announcement, Falco told “The Morning Show” earlier this month there will always be black markets for drugs…

Falco is also not happy with the Biden administration’s plan to loosen federal regulations on marijuana. The change would make marijuana use and possession a less serious crime at the federal level, though not a complete decriminalization.
