An apparent shooting victim is at Westchester Medical Center in serious condition, that after an incident in Spring Valley late last night. That’s according to News 12. It happened just before 11pm near the Surry Carlton Apartments on Ewing Avenue. Police reportedly were seen gathering evidence there and at a nearby shopping center. The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and State Police are reportedly helping the Spring Valley Police Department in the investigation.
Truck Crash in Ramapo
Old Route 17 in Ramapo was closed for several hours yesterday afternoon after a tractor trailer reportedly struck the Thruway overpass and rolled over. Ramapo Police say the incident occurred between Route 59 and the Chestnut Ridge Transportation building. There were no reports of any injuries.
Burglaries in Airmont, New Hempstead
Ramapo Police are warning residents of a series of burglaries Sunday involving homes that were left unlocked, with thieves taking the opportunity to look for car keys and valuables. Police say one of the incidents occurred in New Hempstead, where suspects tried to enter parked vehicles outside a home and made attempts to open a sliding door. Another similar incident happened in Airmont. Police say no arrests have been made yet, but remind you to lock your doors and windows, and engage any alarm systems you may have.

The push to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson from his post has been ticked up a notch as far-right Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene continues to threaten his job, just months after helping oust former Speaker Kevin McCarthy last October. The Associated Press reports she’s concerned primarily about what she considers to be excessive spending, including an aid package for Ukraine. Rockland Congressman Mike Lawler of the 17th District says the move is idiotic and destructive…
AP reported Greene warned Johnson not to compromise with Democrats on spending bills. The move threatens to bring work in the House to a halt just as lawmakers returned to Washington Tuesday from a two-week spring recess.

A New Jersey federal judge plans to rule on the fate of the MTA’s congestion pricing program before the planned roll-out of the controversial toll planned for drivers going south of 60th Street in Manhattan. That’s according to Gothamist.com. Judge Leo Gordon is presiding over New Jersey’s challenge to the program. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says his lawsuit, and several others that have been combined, also still have to be decided…
New Jersey claims the tolls would increase pollution in the Garden State and calls it an MTA money grab. MTA’s lawyers counter that the plan would reduce traffic without harming any part of New Jersey, and promised the MTA would help mitigate any impacts that congestion might have on the western side of the Hudson.
