A Spring Valley man has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two girls, age 13 and 11. Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh says 60 year-old Fresnel Paul faces 20 years in state prison when he is sentenced in March. Walsh called Paul’s actions “sickening” and added that no sentence can undo the damage and trauma caused to the victims.
Clarkstown Looks at Future of Former Rockland Country Day School
The town of Clarkstown is considering what to do with the Rockland Country Day School property that the town purchased in 2018 for $4.4 million. Supervisor George Hoehmann says they’re still evaluating the various needs the 22-acre property can fill for the town…
In a recent Monday segment during “The Morning Show,” Naomi Streicher of Q Home Sales in New City questioned whether government should get involved in the real estate business…
Meanwhile, Hoehmann says, there is a new, natural-turf field for soccer and lacrosse that was completed last month at the entrance to the property…
There’s also a 57-spot parking lot. The field is expected to open in the spring after the sod takes hold this winter.

Rockland Honors Blood Donors Ahead of Blood Donation Month in January
Rockland County Executive Ed Day yesterday donated a pint of blood while honoring area residents for their commitment to doing the same at a blood drive at the Health Complex in Pomona. Retired county employee Fred Cifuni has 141 blood donations under his belt, adding up to more than 17 gallons. Cifuni says if you’ve never donated blood before, rest assured, it’s not that hard…
Yadira Navarro is a director with New York Blood Center Enterprises, and she says blood donations are needed all year round, but especially this time of year…
The county also honored the Parish of St. Paul-St. Ann in Congers for contributing nearly 200 units of blood at its blood drives this year. The event was an early kick-off for National Blood Donor Month, which is in January.

According to the Associated Press, armed opposition groups launched a large-scale attack in northwestern Syria on areas controlled by government forces, ultimately concluding with President Assad’s ouster on December 8th, this past Sunday. Meanwhile, the moves prompted Israel, according to CNN, to launch airstrikes at military targets across Syria. They also deployed ground troops into and beyond a demilitarized buffer zone for the first time in 50 years, part of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s promise to change “the face of the Middle East.”
