NYS to Host Energy Summit Today and Tomorrow in Syracuse

The Future Energy Economy Summit gets underway today, bringing together stakeholders from around the country and the world to discuss next-generation clean energy technologies and strategies for using renewable energy while supporting economic development in New York State. Al Samuels heads up the Rockland Business Association, and he says so far, the state is behind in its renewable energy goals, and the state needs to get it right…

Rockland Kids Back in School Starting Today, Officials Warn to Pay Attention Around Stopped Buses

It’s back to school today for kids in the Clarkstown, North Rockland, Nyack, Pearl River, and South Orangetown school districts. East Ramapo, Nanuet and Suffern return tomorrow. With kids back in school that means more school buses on the roads, so you might need to start your day a little earlier to make sure you get where you’re going on time, because you can’t be passing stopped school buses with their red lights flashing and those stop signs and stop-arms sticking out of them. If you do, Rockland County Executive Ed Day says you’ll be caught by the cameras mounted on the school bus…

Ryan Monell is Vice President of Government Operations at BusPatrol, the company behind the technology each bus is equipped with to catch those who violate the law. Monell says it’s not about the money…

There are financial penalties, however, the first violation is $250, the second is $275, and a third will set you back $300. During the last school year, more than 17,000 citations were issued to drivers for passing a school bus right here in Rockland. We have a link to videos of some of the violations right here.

Intersection in North Rockland to Remain Closed Through at Least October

A busy multi-road intersection in North Rockland could remain closed for construction through the end of October, impacting travel to and from local schools as they are now open. Haverstraw supervisor Howard Phillips says four county roads — Suffern Lane, Letchworth Road, Hammond Road and Theills-Mount Ivy Road — need much more work, and getting to and from area schools is going to be challenging…

The area’s been closed since July first, when the county began the installation of a roundabout to replace the intersection.

Chick-Fil-A, Coming to Nanuet Possibly Next Summer, Looks to Launch Video Streaming Service

Streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and for now, Paramount+, are streaming services that people use to watch content on their TVs and iPads and cell phones. But now it seems a fast-food restaurant chain wants in. Entertainment industry publication, Deadline, reported recently that Chick-Fil-A, which is building a new restaurant in Nanuet, plans to launch its own streaming service with original, “family-friendly” content, and licensed material. WRCR market analyst Connor Mahoney of Mahoney Asset Management in Chestnut Ridge says other companies have hatched wackier ideas that worked… 

If you don’t want to watch chicken-themed family-friendly programming and instead prefer to eat chicken on the go, you’ll be able to soon do that in Nanuet, Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says, possibly next summer…

NY Boulders End Season with a Win, Miss Playoffs

The New York Boulders played the last three games of the season against the New England Knockouts with the playoffs barely in their sights. Friday’s contest was a see-saw battle, with Steve Barmakian putting the Boulders ahead in the 3rd inning…

And that was Marc Ernay with the call on the Boulders Broadcast Network. The Boulders would go on to win, 8-7. The Boulders would lose on Saturday, 9-3, eliminating the Boulders from playoff contention. Sunday capped the regular season with an 11-4 win. They finished in 4th place with a record of 52 wins and 44 losses.
