NY Works to Comply with EPA Lead Line Removal Rules
A new Environmental Protection Agency rule means New York and other states will have just over ten years to remove all lead service lines. The Lead and Copper Improvements Rule requires more rigorous testing of drinking water. New York has more than 449-thousand lead service lines to remove, at a cost of around 2-and-a-half-billion dollars, but it’s not clear how it will be paid for. Other major challenges include dealing with older infrastructure and ensuring water is properly filtered once the pipes are replaced. Valerie Baron with the Natural Resources Defense Council says climate change will affect this work…
Assemblyman Chris Eachus of the 99th District, covering Stony Point and parts of Orange County, says the city of Newburgh in Orange County, for example, needs a lot of help…

Orange County Man Run Down by Minivan Driven by 13 year-old Dies at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern
An Orange County man was killed Tuesday night after he was run over in a parking space by a minivan being driven by a 13 year-old. New York State Police say 36 year-old Abraham Moskovits had to be pulled out from under a 2024 Honda Odyssey just before 9pm Tuesday night. Police say an unidentified 13 year-old was backing the van into a parking area by a housing complex on Lemberg Court in the village of Kiryas Joel, town of Monroe, when the teen rapidly accelerated, striking Moskovits and the residence. EMS performed life-saving measures, and Moskovits was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, where he died of his injuries. No word on any charges in the incident, which is under investigation.
