Increased Patrols to Help Prevent Drugged and Drunk Driving on Area Roadways

Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest and deadliest holiday travel times due to alcohol-impaired-driving crashes. That’s according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is running their annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” public awareness campaign. Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco says it’s a safe bet that there will be added patrols watching for drunk and drugged drivers on the area roadways…

Recent NHTSA data shows that alcohol-related traffic fatalities made up 32% of all traffic deaths in 2022. That year there were 13,524 fatalities, that’s one every 39 minutes.

RCC Gets $25K Donation Thanks to Grant from Rock Band Metallica

Students in the Rockland Community College CDL Class A Commercial Driver Training course will see their tuition rates drop thanks to a gift from a world-famous rock band’s charitable arm, “All Within My Hands Scholars Initiative.” The group recently made a $25,000 donation to help those students “Wherever They May Roam.” Yes, if you didn’t catch the subtle hint, the band is the heavy-metal group Metallica, and those 25-Gs are on top of $100,000 they gave the program in 2022. RCC’s Class A Truck Driver curriculum teaches students to inspect and operate tractor-trailers, with emphasis on vehicle inspections, defensive driving, and more. No word on whether Metallica simply liked that the college had the word “ROCK” in its name.

NY Boulders Win in Ottawa, Enter Final Regular Season Weekend Home Series

The New York Boulders played game three of their final three-game road trip of the regular season last night with hopes for making the playoffs hanging by a thread. And they didn’t disappoint. The 4th place Boulders beat the 2nd place Ottawa Titans, 2-0, holding them to just three hits for their third straight win, and second consecutive shutout. The Boulders are still a game-and-a-half behind the Titans and the Tri-City ValleyCats with just three games left in the season. Rockland Sheriff: Two Area Shootings Saturday Not Related

Two separate shootings in Rockland on Saturday were not connected. That’s according to Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco…

That incident was discovered just after noon on Saturday. Around nine hours earlier that same day, three women were wounded in a shooting in Central Nyack. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann told “The Morning Show” Monday the women were not cooperating with the investigation, and Falco says that’s critical…

“The Hill” reported yesterday that the Kamala Harris for President campaign just launched an ad blitz tying Trump to Project 2025. She and VP candidate Tim Walz are expected to give their first sit-down interview to CNN tonight. Still no press conference though.
