Four Brooklyn men were indicted late last week for the New City shooting incident in late January. Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh said the defendants opened fire on a single-family home that had been rented out. There were several people in the home, but no one was hurt. A Valley Cottage man has been sentenced up to five years behind bars for a fatal shooting in Nyack in 2020. 20 year-old Collyer Goodman had pleaded guilty to Manslaughter and Criminal Possession of a Weapon last October. Rockland’s D.A. Tom Walsh says on August 23rd, 2020, Goodman was sitting in the back of a car when he pulled the trigger on his loaded 9mm gun, the bullet struck Darien Brydie who was sitting in the front seat. He was taken to Nyack Hospital but died shortly after arriving.

Environmental advocates like the investments in climate action and nature projects that New York Governor Kathy Hochul put in her executive budget last month. Among the proposals is a 4 billion-dollar Environmental Bond Act, with projects designed to protect clean water, reduce pollution, and local climate risks, and 400 million dollars for the state Environment Protection Fund.
