The “accessory dwelling units” proposal has been dropped from the budget, that’s according to Newsday late last night. Governor Kathy Hochul reportedly pulled the proposal that would have required local governments to accept various versions of multi-family housing in single-family homes. Hochul got 85 percent of the vote. This marks the first time a woman got the nod from a major party to run for governor of New York. She could still face a primary challenge by New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and Long Island Congressman Tom Souzzi.
