Two people were killed, and another injured after a car accident on the Palisades Parkway in Clarkstown. News 12 says State Police believe the crash happened after one car headed south in the northbound lanes early Sunday morning between exits 9 and 10. The person injured is expected to survive. The Parkway was closed for several hours for the accident investigation. No other details were available.

A Stony Point man is lucky to be alive but facing charges in New Jersey after an accident on the Palisades Parkway near the New York border late last month that was caught on camera. DailyVoice.com cited a state police official in New Jersey who said 27 year-old Michael Brabham was involved in an apparent road rage incident with another vehicle. Video of the incident shows Brabham trying to squeeze through two cars before striking the rocks on the side of the road and flipping over. Published reports say Brabham was ticketed for reckless driving and weaving in traffic, but could face additional charges. He was treated for minor injuries. PIP New Jersey State Police Detective Sergeant Raymond Walter told DailyVoice he hopes people see the video and learn that driving aggressively or recklessly can have severe consequences.
Rockland Legislature Scheduled Third Vote to Finance County New Office of Building and Codes
Third time could be the charm for the legislature, which is scheduled to vote tomorrow night on the budget necessary to create an office of Building and Codes to take over that function for the village of Spring Valley. The county is state-authorized to do that on February 14th, but needs the money to fund the office that was created in a second vote last week. While the law passed unanimously last week, three legislators left the meeting early so the vote on the budget stalled. In a statement late Wednesday afternoon, the Legislature said of the three legislators who left the meeting early, Ramapo’s Alden Wolfe had to attend to a personal matter, Clarkstown’s Aney Paul had technical glitches, and Ramapo’s Toney Earl had undergone a medical procedure earlier in the day, but was able to sign-in to vote to create the office, but not on the budget. The state-authorized move to take over the village building department comes in the wake of last year’s fatal fire at the Evergreen Adult Home in which a resident and Spring Valley firefighter Jared Lloyd were both killed. Two former Spring Valley building department employees and four others have been charged in connection with the blaze.
